 Monterrey is a Mexican city, capital and most populated city of the state of Nuevo León. Monterrey is part of the Metropolitan Area of ​​Monterrey, whose population is 4.6 million inhabitants, being the third most populated metropolitan area in Mexico, only after Mexico City and Guadalajara, and the second in territorial extension with 7657.5 square kilometers. Monterrey is located 913 km from the capital of the country, Mexico City.

Monterrey is one of the most developed cities in Mexico. 

It has a long history, and is also one of the main business centers of the country. It serves as the industrial and economic epicenter for Northern Mexico. According to a study by Mercer Human Resource Consulting, in 2018 it is the city with the best quality of life in Mexico, the ninth in Latin America and the 112th in the world. The economy is characterized by being the base of many national and international companies such as Cemex, Oxxo, FEMSA, Vitro, Alfa Group, among others, for what is called the Industrial Capital of Mexico. It is the second city in Mexico by the size of the local economy with a GDP of 90,837 million dollars in 201511 and the fourteenth according to the general indicators of Latin American cities with an ICUR of 66.71 in 2016, counting with a per capita income PPP of 32,310 dollars and a GDP per capita Nominal of 20,285 dollars, being the highest in the country and the second in Latin America.The city is considered a beta city because it is globalized and competitive.
